265 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will outline the amount of supplementary welfare allowance that has been paid either by way of rent subsidy or mortgage subsidy in the years 1988 to 1991 by each health board and in each community care area; and if he will further outline the number of individuals that have benefited in each category.
The health boards do not maintain statistical records in such a way as to provide the information requested by the Deputy.
The possibility of health boards providing more detailed statistics on the supplementary welfare allowance scheme, including a more comprehensive analysis of rent and mortgage supplementation, is currently being explored by my Department in consultation with the boards.
