319 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Environment when the environmental impact statement for the Fardys-town regional water supply scheme (main pipeline contract) will be approved; if work will begin on this pipeline; and if so, when.

The environmental impact study relating to the proposed drilling requirements of this scheme is under consideration in my Department.

I have recently approved contract documents for part of the pipeline contract, which forms a separate element of the scheme.
