Vol. 415 No. 1
325 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the allowances payable to the county managers in each county council area.
While no allowances as such are payable to county managers, they may recoup their travelling expenses in respect of journeys undertaken on official business either on the basis of the normal local authority mileage rates or by a combination of a fixed annual allowance and reduced mileage rates. The fixed annual allowance ranges from £678 to £774, depending on the engine capacity of the car. County managers may, within certain limits, also be recouped in respect of entertainment expenses actually incurred in relation to council business; the present annual limits range from £1,150 in a county with no assistant manager, to £2,920 in a county with two or more assistant managers.
