Vol. 415 No. 1

Written Answers. - Kilcullen (Kildare) By-Pass.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

353 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if, having regard to his meeting with representatives of the Kilcullen Community Development at his offices on 15 January, 1992, he will give favourable consideration to the request of the group to provide access from the Kilcullen by-pass to serve Kilcullen, Athgarvan and Two Mile House; if he agrees with the provision of an egress ramp as requested; if he will make the necessary provision for same in order to allow Kildare County Council carry out the work in accordance with the request; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The provision of the facilities referred to would only arise in the event of Kildare County Council preparing a motorway scheme in respect of such an access. In that event, evidence on all aspects of the proposal would have to be presented at a public local inquiry before a determination by me of the motorway scheme. Having regard to my quasi-judicial functions in relation to motorway schemes, it would not be appropriate for me to comment further at this time.
