Written Answers. - Natural Gas Utilisation.

36 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Energy if he will give details of the percentages of the natural gas from the Kinsale field which is utilised for (a) industrial and (b) domestic purposes; and if he will outline the expected lifespan of (1) this field and (2) the adjacent Ballycotton field, at the present rate of usage.

The figures the Deputy seeks in respect of gas usage are available in the annual report of Bord Gáis Éireann.

With regard to the life span of the Kinsale Head and Ballycotton gas fields, the situation is that both fields are now operated in tandem. They are expected to be depleted sometime early in the decade beginning in the year 2000.
