Ceist:63 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Energy the reason for the delay in putting in place the new grants scheme for forestry which he announced some time ago.
Written Answers. - Forestry Grant Scheme.
The Deputy is no doubt aware that I announced new and improved grant schemes for forestry on Friday last, 24 January 1992. These increases followed negotiations at EC level and discussions with the Minister for Finance.
The new grant rates are between 67 per cent and 12.5 per cent above previous rates and substantial improvements have been made in the annual forest premium scheme including a new premium for all farmers including part-time farmers. The new grant rates will apply to all works approved on or after 1 October 1991.
