29 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will outline the steps the Government propose to take to acknowledge the golden jubilee of the Irish Housewives Association (Comhlachas Ban Tí na hÉireann) which is due for commemoration in June 1992.
52 Mrs. Fennell asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will make a financial contribution to help the Irish Housewives Association to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their foundation.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 29 and 52 together.
The Irish Housewives Association has not sought any financial assistance directly from my Department and I am unable to say whether such an application would come within the criteria of the grant schemes administered by me. However, in view of the Deputy's interest the question of financial assistance for the association for the purposes outlined in the questions will be considered. My Department will be in contact with the association in this regard.
