71 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Environment if he will provide additional funding to Dungarvan Urban District Council, County Waterford, to enable them to provide house extensions where there is a problem of serious overcrowding and where a medical report indicates that this constitutes a serious health hazard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Funding for the carrying out of repairs or improvement works to private houses in lieu of the provision of a local authority house will be included in this year's capital allocations for the local authority housing programme. The allocations will be notified to housing authorities as soon as possible.
