135 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make an allocation available towards the cost of repairing the brick bridge on the Lixnaw/Kiltomey Road, County Kerry.
136 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make an allocation available for the repair of the Ballinagher Bridge, County Kerry.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 135 and 136 together.
As the bridges in question are located on non-national roads, responsibility for their repair rests with the local authority, Kerry County Council, and the cost falls to be financed from local resources supplemented by the discretionary grants provided by my Department for such roads. In the case of Kerry County Council, these grants totalled £3.219 million in 1991. I hope, shortly, to be in a position to notify local authorities of their road grant allocations for 1992.
