Ceisteanna — Questions Written Answers. - School Secretary-Caretaker Appointments.

42 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Education if his attention has been drawn to the application by Talbot senior national school, Bawnogue, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, for authorisation to employ a school secretary and caretaker and to the fact that this school is in a disadvantaged area; if he will outline his views on the application; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department is currently funding caretaker and clerk-typist posts which are shared between Talbot senior national school, Bawnogue, Clondalkin, Dublin 22, and Scoil Nano Nagle, Bawnogue, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.

A phased programme agreed under theProgramme for Economic and Social Progress will commence later this year to expand the provision for caretaking and clerical services to national schools with 100 pupils upwards.

It is not possible to say at this stage when it may be possible for the school in question to benefit under this programme.
