Ceist:8 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of American manufacturing companies based in the Republic of Ireland; and the counties in which they are based.
Written Answers. - American Companies in Ireland.
Information relating to US companies in Ireland is contained in the Annual Report (1990) of the Industrial Development Authority, which was laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas on 19 June 1991 and a copy of which is available in the Dáil Library. Responsibility for the location of particular companies is a day-to-day matter for the relevant State agencies and the companies concerned and is not a matter in which I have any direct function.
However, I understand from the State agencies that a total of 303 US manufacturing companies are currently located in Ireland. The agencies have supplied me with a breakdown of these on a county basis and this is shown in the following statement:
