Ceist:250 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Labour if he will review the role of FÁS; and whether he intends his Department to play an inter-active role with FÁS in identifying the training needs of the community.
Written Answers. - Role of FÁS.
My Department have carried out a wide-ranging review of all aspects of the labour market in its preparatory work for the publication of a White Paper on manpower policy which I intend to publish soon. This review included an assessment of the role of State agencies involved in the operation of the labour market.
The White Paper will take on board the manpower and training implications of the recommendations of the report of the Industrial Policy Review Group, together with relevant figures from the Task Force on Employment and the Green Paper on Education.
