166 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Education if he will make a statement on his proposals to raise the school-leaving age to 16 years of age; and if he will give details of the costs involved in these proposals.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 89, 90 and 166 together.
A proposal to raise the school-leaving age from 15 years to 16 will be considered in the context of the forthcoming Green Paper on Education. In these circumstances, I do not propose to elaborate on the matter at present.
