Vol. 415 No. 9

Written Answers. - Constitutional Findings.

Brendan Howlin

Ceist:

143 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Justice if, in relation to each statute which the Supreme Court found unconstitutional in whole or in part since 1988, he will outline the action taken by the Government subsequent to such findings.

Records are not maintained in my Department in such a way as to enable the information sought in the question to be properly compiled in the short period of time since the question was put down. However, I have arranged to have the information relating to my functional area compiled and it will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as it becomes available.

If the Deputy requires information about action taken in response to particular legislative provisions outside my functional area being found unconstitutional, he will have to put down a question to the Minister concerned.

Ceist:

144 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline for each year since 1988 (a) the statutes found unconstitutional in whole or in part in the Supreme Court and the title of the cases concerned, and (b) the statutes found not to be unconstitutional by the Supreme Court and the title of the cases concerned.

Records are not maintained in such a way as to enable the information sought in the question to be provided readily. However, I have arranged to have the information compiled and it will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as it becomes available.
