Written Answers. - Butter Voucher Scheme.
Butter vouchers are issued under the European Community scheme for sale of butter at reduced prices to people receiving social assistance. The scheme is funded by the Community and the categories of people covered are set out in EC regulations. These regulations state that the scheme applies only to people getting social assistance payments and not to other groups. Invalidity pension is not a social assistance payment and consequently butter vouchers cannot be issued to people in receipt of that pension.
