127 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Education if he will assist a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 whose daughter is very anxious to attend either a Gaeltacht course or the two week course in the Gael-Linn College in Merrion Square, Dublin 2, this summer.
My Department does not provide scholarships for attendance at courses referred to by the Deputy.
As I indicated in my reply to a Parliamentary Question of 19 February 1992, my Department subsidises tuition fees in the Irish summer colleges while Roinn na Gaeltachta subsidises accommodation costs. These subsidies do not usually cover the full costs. Gaeltacht scholarships are made available by various bodies and I am arranging to have forwarded to the Deputy a list of the bodies in question who might be approached for assistance in this case.
