Vol. 416 No. 4

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: Deputy Farrelly: The plans the Minister for Education has for the development of accommodation for St. Mary's Diocesan School, Beamore Road, Drogheda; and if he will allocate sufficient funds in 1992 for the commencement of this project; Deputy Shatter: The action required to ensure that health boards fulfil their obligation under the Adoption Act, 1991; Deputy G. Mitchell: If the Minister for Social Welfare will make a statement on equality arrears payments due to many women and whether payments are also due to their spouses; Deputy Sherlock: The failure of a Cork firm, whose tender has been accepted by Bord Gáis for work on the planned £240 million gas pipeline project linking Irish and British gas grids, to provide jobs in Cork as a result of their decision to take their base to Scotland; Deputy Garland: The proposed interchange on the northern cross motorway at Ballymun, Dublin, which has been planned with no proper consultation with the local community, who are totally opposed to the scheme; Deputy Durkan: The serious matter of excessively high motor insurance which is greatly exacerbated by the complete absence of competition in the motor insurance area.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies Farrelly, Garland and G. Mitchell.
