Vol. 416 No. 6

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

179 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline the criteria he used in 1992 in making awards from the proceeds of the national lottery; if any changes are proposed from previous years, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The allocation of national lottery funds to the various Government Departments that operate programmes within the designated beneficiary areas on which lottery funding can be expended, is decided by the Government.

This decision is made in the context of the Estimates process and details are subsequently published as part of both the Abridged and Revised Estimates for the Public Service.

Once lottery funding has been allocated by Government to the various Departments, responsibility for the distribution of the funds rests with the spending Minister concerned.
