Vol. 416 No. 6

Written Answers. - Departmental Property Sale.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

228 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Marine if he will outline the applications which have been made to his Department by the Port and Docks Board for his consent, under the Harbours Act, 1946 for the sale of property at North Wall, Dublin 1; when his consent was sought and the date of his decision; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

On 18 December 1989, the Dublin Port and Docks Board sought ministerial consent to sell its interest in surplus port land located in the North Wall campshire between the Royal Canal entrance and the East Link Bridge.

Before Ministerial consent was given to the board's proposal the company interested in acquiring the site withdrew from the transaction, and as a result the board's application was not processed.

On 2 April 1991, the board reapplied for ministerial consent to sell the North Wall site.

On 7 January 1992, ministerial consent was conveyed to the board's proposal.
