Ceist:384 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the requirements laid down by his Department in determining eligibility for a herd number.

I am informed by the Director of ERAD that the criteria for issuing of a herd number are as follows: the herd is managed at all times as a separate unit without intermixing with other herds e.g. separate farm equipment, housing and fodder and so on; adequate handling facilities are available to enable satisfactory testing to be carried out on each holding and the herd has a distinct owner/manager who can be legally held responsible for breaches of animal health regulations.

Ceist:385 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork was refused a herd number.
I am informed by the Director of ERAD that the person in question does not meet the established criteria regarding the allocation of a herd number.
