I propose to take Questions Nos. 29, 41, 93, 95 and 98 together.
The Protocols on the statutes of the European System of Central Banks and of the European Monetary Institute, which are part of the new Treaty on European Union, provide that, before the end of 1992, decisions on the seats of the ECB and the EMI shall be taken by common accord of the Governments of the member states at the level of Heads of State or of Government.
While there has been some public comment about possible locations for the ECB and the EMI, no formal proposals have yet been tabled in the appropriate fora, nor have these matters been discussed in any detail by the representatives of the member states.
Ultimately, the decisions in question are likely to be taken in the context of an overall agreement on the seats of a number of other Community bodies, the locations of which remain to be decided.
