Vol. 416 No. 6

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

114 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Finance if he will make a statement on the up-to-date position regarding the decentralisation of the Central Statistics Office to Cork city; if a decision has been made on the site that will be used; if he is still considering Polefield, Blackpool, which is in the heart of the northside and an area with high unemployment, and if he will consider locating the Central Statistics Office there as it would give a major uplift to the area.

Tenders for the provision of accommodation for the Central Statistics Office in Cork city were received by the Commissioners of Public Works on 28 February 1992 and are being examined. A decision on the site to be used must await the outcome of this examination. The site at Polefield, Blackpool, is not now among the sites under consideration.
