Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Farrelly — whether the Minister for Justice will reverse a decision made by the Garda Authorities to close Enfield Garda Station from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. daily; (2) Deputy Browne (CarlowKilkenny) — the delay in the introduction of regulations to implement the Abattoirs Act, 1988, as promised on several occasions in the House, and which has resulted in Carlow County Council paying £75,000 with no powers of recruitment; (3) Deputy Noonan (Limerick East) — the subject matter of Question No. 173 on 19 February 1992 to the Minister for Health with regard to the funding for rape crisis centres; (4) Deputy Cotter — the vicious attack on a middle-aged man living alone in a remote part of rural Ireland, the fear generated in old people and people living alone by this attack and other attacks of a similar nature and the need to support the Garda in their efforts to track down these criminals; (5) Deputy McEllistrim — if the Minister for the Environment will make a grant available to the central water scheme, Farmers Bridge, in order to start stage 5 of the group scheme to take a water supply to Kielduff, Tralee; (6) Deputy Taylor — the report on motor insurance costs and incidental matters issued by the Irish Insurance Federation on 24 February 1992 on which the Minister for Industry and Commerce made a statement; (7) Deputy Connor — in view of the threatened liquidation of a company details supplied, which is the second largest meat processor in the county, employing over 900 full-time employees, the action it is intended to take to help save this company; (8) Deputy Finucane — if the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications will reconsider the decision to close Carrigkerry post office in Couny Limerick; (9) Deputy Byrne — the serious concern of residents in the community surrounding St. James's Hospital, Dublin, at the plans of the hospital to build a large central incinerator for the burning of hospitals waste from all the city hospitals; (10) Deputy Spring — the need for the intervention of the Minister for Industry and Commerce in the dispute between the former workers in Reliability Limited, County Tipperary, and the company; (11) Deputy Gregory — the proposals to provide a central incinerator for hospital waste for all Dublin Hospitals at James's Street Hospital in Dublin 8 and residents' concern at these proposals; (12) Deputy Flaherty — the imminent dismantling of the wind energy facility at Oileán Cléirigh in the context of stated Government policy in support of alternative sources of energy; (13) Deputy Ryan — the urgent need for a post primary school for Castleknock, Dublin 15 given the recent decision of the Minister for Education that the area did not warrant one at this stage; (4) Deputy Gerry O'Sullivan — the dramatic increase in housing subsidies paid by the Southern Health Board last year; (15) Deputy Moynihan — the urgency in relation to the development of an improved sewerage system for the town of Kenmare, County Kerry, without further delay; and (16) Deputy Jim Higgins — the need to ensure that all possible steps are taken to avoid the collapse of United Meat Packers with the loss of 900 jobs.

I have selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies Spring, Farrelly and Noonan (Limerick East).
