Vol. 417 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 14 and 15. Subject to an order for the taking of the Second Reading of the Bill being made, Private Members' Business shall be No. 9.

There is nothing to put to the House.

Some time ago the Minister for Finance promised the introduction of legislation to regulate the Stock Exchange. I would be grateful if the Taoiseach would indicate when this legislation is likely to be published and introduced.

That legislation is in the early stages of preparation.

May I ask the Taoiseach if the Government have agreed any terms of reference for a foreign affairs committee of this House and when he is likely to bring these before the House?

Very shortly; it will be a matter of days.

May I ask the Taoiseach to indicate to the House the progress which has been made to date on the White Paper on the Maastricht Treaty, when it is expected to be published and how soon we might expect a debate in the House on it?

It is almost ready for consideration by the Cabinet. When they have finished considering it, it will then be published.

When will the referendum on the Maastricht Treaty be held? Is it still envisaged that the referendum will take place in June? Because of the delay in publishing the White Paper——

The Deputy should have been here for Question Time.

We have had many questions on that matter a short time ago.

Will the Government make arrangements to take items Nos. 3 and 4 later this week so that the House will have an opportunity to read the very interesting interim reports of the Committee of Public Accounts in the event of a recess to coincide with St. Patrick's Day?

I will ask the Whips to consider that matter.
