176 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education when the proposed extension to a school in County Tipperary will be provided; if the plans are finalised; when it is expected work will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The proposed classroom extension at Ballyneale school is at present at tender stage. I am not in a position at this stage to say when building works will be commenced, but it is my intention to provide the proposed extension at the earliest feasible date.

As recently announced this extension is scheduled to start this year. The question of when construction can begin is currently being examined and my Department will be in communication with the school authorities in this regard as soon as possible.

Ceist:

178 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education if he will outline the present position regarding the provision of a school (details supplied) in County Tipperary; if it will be included in the 1992 programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Planning permission was received recently for the proposed new national school at Clerihan, County Tipperary and planning for the project is proceeding. The question of expenditure during 1992 does not arise as the project will not reach that stage this year.
