Ceist:

337 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Social Welfare if any alternative signing-on facilities can be provided in the areas of Carbury, Broadford, Clogherinkoe, Cadamstown, and other areas of County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The unemployed in the areas specified by the Deputy are dealt with on a postal basis by the branch employment office in Edenderry.

My Department plans to introduce less frequent signing arrangements for the unemployed. While it has no complaints from claimants in these areas regarding signing-on facilities, any inconvenience which may be felt at present will be alleviated by the new signing arrangements which will be applied generally on a phased basis.
