Vol. 417 No. 1

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Dermot Ahern

Ceist:

123 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the inordinate delay in progressing the decentralisation programme to Dundalk, County Louth; if he will make arrangements to expedite the process by allowing private developers to be approached in order to provide the required site, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The provision of decentralised offices in Dundalk cannot be progressed until the accommodation brief sought for the revenue staff to be decentralised has been received. The requisite brief is available for the Office of Public Works Staff contingent.

The Commissioners of Public Works are currently assessing the suitability of a number of sites. As of now there are no plans to broaden the scope of the competitive tendering process by inviting developers with their own sites to tender for provision to the offices.
