Ceist:127 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the grades to which merit pay is being applied; if he has any plans to extend merit pay to other grades; and, if so, if he will outline these grades.
Written Answers. - Merit Pay.
Merit pay applies in the Civil Service to the grade of Assistant Secretary and some other grades at that level. The application of a system of merit pay for these grades was recommended by the Review Body on Higher Remuneration in the Public Sector (Report No. 30). While the question of extending the application of merit pay systems is constantly under review I have no specific proposals in this respect at this stage.
