Arrangements are being made to re-appoint a special adviser to Deputy Harney, Minister of State at my Department, on the same terms and conditions as applied prior to her reappointment as Minister of State. These provide for engagement on a full-time basis in a temporary capacity, with no entitlement to permanent status, at a salary of £35,313 per annum. The standard non-contributory pension scheme for non-established State employees applies to the position. Travelling expenses are payable at approved Civil Service rates in respect of travel undertaken in the course of official duty. The duties of the post involve the provision of advice for the Minister of State on matters coming within the scope of her role in relation to the office for the protection of the environment.
I am considering the appointment of a special adviser in my own case. Terms and conditions have yet to be finalised.
