Ceist:

204 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for Education the number of, (a) male and (b) female principals working in post-primary schools in the current school year; if he has any proposals to improve the status of women in this respect; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The following table shows a breakdown, by gender, of the number of principals in post-primary schools:

I am aware of the need to improve the status of women in this respect and will include proposals for this purpose in the forthcoming Green Paper.
