216 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for Education if preparation for life is an objective of post-primary education; if he has any proposals to ensure the better attainment of this objective; if he will outline the obstacles, if any, which militate against its attainment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

One of the objectives of post primary education is undoubtedly that of preparing students for life.

I propose that the Green Paper on education will incorporate a comprehensive statement on the aims and objectives of education, and how it is proposed that these can best be met.
