Vol. 417 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Cork Area Designation.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

331 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if an appeal has been received by his Department from an area (details supplied) in County Cork for inclusion in the disadvantaged area scheme; and if so, if he will outline the current position regarding same.

The townland of Knockbrack, in the district electoral division of Banteer, County Cork is under consideration by the appeals panel and has been surveyed recently by departmental inspectors.

When the processing of all data from the current survey is completed in the autumn, the appeals panel will be in a position to examine the survey results and make recommendations to my Department as to the areas to be included in a submission to Brussels. The final decision on areas to be classified as disadvantaged rests with the EC Commission.
