18 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends adhering to the target set out in the Joint Programme for Government and in his reply in Dáil Éireann of 5 February 1992, to establish regional authorities not later than 31 March 1992.

147 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment if he intends adhering to the target set out in Joint Programme for Government and in his reply in Dáil Eireann of 5 February 1992, to establish regional authorities not later than 31 March, 1992.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 18, 25, 66, 72, 88 and 147 together.

As indicated in the reply to Questions Nos. 3, 4, 12, 14 and 134 on 5 February, the necessary preparatory work for the establishment of regional authorities is in hands. This work will be pressed ahead as quickly as possible but I cannot say, at this stage, when the authorities will be established.
