Vol. 418 No. 4

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Clothing.

William Cotter

Ceist:

61 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for Defence whether the practice whereby soldiers posted to Border duty are responsible for the purchase of clothing suitable for such duty is still in vogue; if so, if he has any plans to provide such clothing for the soldiers concerned; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under the terms of Defence Force Regulations Q2 soldiers serving in Border units are issued with a full range of clothing which is considered suitable for the duties involved. The range and scale of issue provided for in regulations are kept under review and are adjusted periodically as circumstances warrant.
