Ceist:67 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has any plans to abolish the 1 per cent Government levy on car insurance introduced in 1983.
Written Answers. - Insurance Compensation Fund Levy.
As the Deputy is aware, I reduced the insurance compensation fund levy on non-life insurance premiums from 2 per cent to 1 per cent with effect from 1 January 1992. My intention is to eliminate the levy entirely when it is no longer required for the administration of Primor plc (formerly called PMPA Insurance plc), hopefully within the next year.
