147 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education if he will outline, (a) the procedures involved for the board of management in applying for a post of remedial teacher in a national school and (b) the criterion applied by his Department in processing these applications.
The board of management of a national school wishing to secure a post of remedial teacher should apply in writing to my Department. The application should indicate the basis on which the post is being sought and, in the case of an application for a shared remedial post, details of the other schools concerned should also be given.
Subject to the availability of remedial posts, appointments are made on the basis of priority of need, as indicated by all the information available.
