Vol. 420 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Foot Patrols.

Michael Joe Cosgrave

Ceist:

46 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Justice if, in view of the unsocial behaviour on the open space at Grange Abbey between Grange Abbey Crescent and Grange Abbey Grove where youths are congregating in the laneways and at the rear of local residents' property, he will ensure that Garda foot patrols are provided in this area without delay, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Garda authorities inform me that they are aware of the concerns of the residents of Grange Abbey with regard to law enforcement in their area and they have been taking special measures to respond to these concerns. These measures include the operation of mobile and foot patrols and particular attention is also being paid to the area by the local community Gardaí. In addition, the Sergeant responsible for the community policing unit at Coolock station is due to meet representatives of the local residents shortly to inform them of the Garda action being taken and to assure them of continuing Garda attention.
