Jim Higgins

Ceist:

74 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for the Marine the amount of revenue that accrued to the State Fishery Company for the operation of boxes and nets on the River Moy in 1991; and the number of boxes that were operated.

The net income in 1991 from the fishery came to £3.823.

Wages and other costs of those employed in running the fishery, together with interest charges on the cost of its purchase, amounted to £164,993. Up to twenty people are employed by the company.

Accordingly, the gross income from commercial fishing operations on the Department of the Marine owned stretch of the Rive Moy in 1991 was £168,816.

The number of traps operated was six.
