67 Mr. Pattison asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the estimated total cost of the 1992 round of tuberculosis testing; the percentage of these costs which are being borne (a) by his Department and (b) the farmer; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
It is estimated that the total cost of the 1992 programme of bovine tuberculosis testing, including administration costs, together with expenditure on brucellosis eradication, will amount to £60.3 million. Fifty-three per cent of the cost will be borne by the Exchequer and 47 per cent by farmers through the disease levies.
