I propose to take Questions Nos. 27, 34, 37 and 55 together.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that a total income of about £338,000 was generated by the Garda Síochána in respect of non-public duty carried out in 1991. This duty is performed by members of the force under arrangements made by the Garda authorities with organisers of events such as football matches, race meetings, concerts etc. The rates charged for this service take account of basic pay, allowances and overtime and are reviewed on an ongoing basis to take account of pay increases.
