Vol. 421 No. 2

Written Answers. - Removal of Bus Stop.

Gerard Brady

Ceist:

88 Mr. G. Brady asked the Minister for Justice the reason a bus stop has been removed (details supplied) which is causing unnecessary hardship to senior citizens in the area, and if he will outline when the bus stop will be replaced.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the bus stop in question was recently removed by Dublin Bus with their consent following the receipt of numerous and incessant complaints about its location and the behaviour of people waiting at it. The source of these complaints were local residents and businesses. The Garda are at present endeavouring with Dublin Bus executives to identify a suitable location for the bus stop agreeable to all parties concerned including both residents and law abiding passengers. The hardship and inconvenience caused to senior citizens who availed of this bus stop is regretted but it must be understood that incidents at the location of the stop itself caused distress and injury to the property of elderly residents.
