Vol. 421 No. 4

Written Answers. - Planning Process.

Seán Ryan

Ceist:

47 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the public concern about some of the Office of Public Works interpretative centre projects, he is prepared to revise the procedures for public participation in the planning process for State agencies, similar to the existing planning legislation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Government Ministers and the Commissioners of Public Works are required by section 84 of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, to consult the relevant planning authority before undertaking the construction of any building. I have no proposals to alter this procedure.
