Vol. 421 No. 5

Written Answers. - Representations to British Authorities.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

142 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will make representations to the British authorities on behalf of a prisoner (details supplied) who is seeking a review of his case.

Since my reply of 11 February to the Deputy's earlier question about this prisoner, an official from the Embassy in London has paid a consular visit to the individual concerned.

The individual subsequently informed the Embassy that he had petitioned the Home Office for a review of his case. The Embassy wrote to the Home Office requesting that the prisoner be afforded every opportunity to have the matter investigated and considered by the appropriate British authorities.

The Embassy will continue to follow this case and the Deputy will be kept advised of developments.
