Vol. 421 No. 6

Written Answers. - Pension Entitlement.

Jim Mitchell

Ceist:

137 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will outline the Irish contributions and credits of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7; and whether this person is entitled to an old age contributory pension, and/or a contributory retirement pension.

The person concerned has recorded a total of 288 paid contributions and a total of 281 credited contributions (total 569) during the period from 1980 to 1992.

On the basis of the Department's records which show that the person concerned entered insurable employment in 1980, she is likely to qualify for a Retirement Pension at the current rate of £62.40 per week on reaching age 65 in July 1992. She must satisfy the retirement condition of this scheme. Alternatively, she is likely to qualify for an Old Age Contributory Pension at the same current rate on reaching age 66.

An application form for Retirement Pension has been issued to the person concerned. As soon as this is completed and returned to my Department, her entitlement to pension will be investigated. She will be notified of the outcome as quickly as possible.
