Vol. 421 No. 8

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Jim Mitchell

Ceist:

79 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the total number of staff, either full-time or part-time, working (a) in his private ministerial office, (b) in his constituency office and (c) elsewhere in his Department but working personally for him; if he will outline (1) the number, if any, working for him under consultancy agreements or contracts and (2) the salary level or fees payable in each case; and if he will list the names of the people in each case.

The details as requested by the Deputy are as follows with the exception of the names of the people involved, given that it is not usual to provide such information and that the State Directory does not publish the names of those in management in each area.

(a) Minister's Office

There are ten posts in this Office occupied by 12 staff in total. Eight staff are full-time and the remaining four job-share.

(b) Constituency Office

There are six full-time staff in this Office.

(c) Press Office

There are three full-time staff in this Office.

(1) & (2) There are two staff working for me on contract at salaries of £35,000 per annum and of £194.80 per week respectively. I also have one Special Adviser who is a serving civil servant on secondment from his parent Department on a salary of £16,884, with an allowance of £1,116 in lieu of extra attendance. These three are included in the figures at (a), (b) and (c) above.
