33 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if he has satisfied himself with the procedures within Government Departments to investigate the possible leaking of confidential information if, and whenever, this occurs; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 33, 48, 56, 58, 78 and 79 together.

There are no standard procedures within Government Departments to investigate the leaking of confidential information. It would be normally the responsibility of the Head of the Department concerned to arrange for the investigation of leaks, whenever they occur.
