Vol. 423 No. 1

Written Answers. - Limerick Day Care Centre.

Michael Noonan

Ceist:

262 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the excellent work carried out by Bergerie Trust, C/O of the Good Shepherd Convent, County Limerick, in serving the needs of the elderly in the vicinity of the Good Shepherd Convent; if he has yet made a decision for a grant to provide a day care centre to compliment the residential area already in use; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As the Deputy is aware the Bergerie Trust was established in 1990 to build houses for the elderly and homeless people in the parishes adjoining the Good Shepherd Convent, Limerick.

Neither the Mid-Western Health Board nor my Department have received an application from the Bergerie Trust for the proposed day care centre. However, on receipt of such application it will be considered in the light of competing projects and funds available to the Mid-Western Health Board and the Board's priorities for services developments.
