152 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Health the position regarding the application of St. John of God, Drumcar, County Louth for assistance in setting up a speech and language therapy unit for their school; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The 1992 allocation to the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God is £16.660 million. It is a matter, in the first instance, for the order to deploy these resources in the light of the priorities identified by the order.
Any services for people with a mental handicap in the North Eastern Health Board area which require additional funding are agreed by the co-ordinating mental handicap committee for the North Eastern region, on which the order is represented, and will be considered by my Department in the light of any additional resources made available for this purpose in 1993.
