Ceist:144 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health the number of cases which have been investigated in recent years under the Misuse of Drugs Acts, 1977 and 1984; and the outcome of such investigations.
Written Answers. - Prescribing of Drugs.
Three general practitioners have been investigated for alleged irresponsible prescribing under the Misuse of Drugs Acts, 1977 and 1984 since 1 January 1989.
In two cases a special direction was issued, pursuant to the recommendations of the committees of inquiry established under the Acts to investigate the allegations. This prohibited the GPs in question from prescribing certain controlled drugs.
In the third case a special direction was not issued in accordance with the recommendation of the Committee of Inquiry.
