59 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the acute housing shortage in County Mayo; the proposals, if any, he has to allocate further moneys to deal with the backlog of cases currently before the County Council.
I am aware of the housing needs in Mayo as ascertained in the latest assessment of housing needs carried out by the housing authorities. The capital available for the local authority housing construction programme in 1992 has been fully allocated and there are no funds available to supplement the allocations to individual housing authorities. Capital allocations for 1993 will be made in due course when the provisions to be made in the 1993 Public Capital Programme have been determined.
